Saffron announces mortgage support for flood affected customers

Saffron Building Society has announced it is offering mortgage customers a repayment review on a case-by-case basis in the flood affected areas of the UK.

The society indicated it is willing to aid customers with repayment support and guidance, and that additional support will allow homeowners to regroup and concentrate on repairing the damage caused by the two recent storms and the subsequent flooding that followed.

Areas affected by flooding and eligible for Saffron’s support include South Wales, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and the West Midlands.

Saffron head of mortgage servicing, Sarah Harling, commented: “We at Saffron have been monitoring the awful flood situation carefully and have seen the devastation to homes in the worst hit areas.

“Our members will want to concentrate on repairing the damage to their homes – whilst facing a huge financial impact and waiting for any possible insurance payments. We would like to extend a lifeline to our members in these areas to discuss their situation with us.

“We will deal with each enquiry on a case-by-case basis to offer as much support as we can, allowing for repayment relief where possible. We urge our mortgage members to get in touch and not feel embarrassed to speak to us – our friendly team will do all they can to help and hopefully relieve some pressure at this terrible time.”
