AMI to launch mentoring programme with IMLA and DIFF

The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has announced that it is to launch a new cross industry mentoring programme in association with the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and the Diversity and Inclusivity Finance Forum (DIFF).

Operating through the workinginmortgages.org.uk. website, the primary objective of the programme is to support people across the mortgage industry to enhance their skills and career potential through one-to-one and reverse mentoring opportunities.

Mentorship was one of the recommendations that was made at the 2021 AMI Viewpoint on diversity, inclusion and equity in the mortgage sector to reduce barriers towards career progression. AMI stated that it believes in the powerful impact that mentoring can have on an individual’s professional growth and hopes that the programme will allow participants to achieve their full potential.

AMI’s chief executive, Robert Sinclair, said: “You are never too young or too old to be mentored. A good mentor can help keep a career challenging and fulfilling, even for those in the later stages of their career. No matter where you are in your career, there is always someone who knows more than you, who can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and improve your skills.

“We are grateful for all the partnership provided between AMI and IMLA to weave a network across our sector. Thank you to DIFF for its financial support to this initiative which means it will be free at the point of delivery. I am excited to see how this can enhance the career journeys of our people.”
