Aspen has promoted Saif Khalique to a newly established director of underwriting role. The firm said his progression highlights the success of its graduate recruitment scheme. Khalique initially joined the lender as part of its underwriting team in December 2019, and in 2023, he joined the management team. Since then, he has assisted with the development of the underwriting team, taking on the role of head of underwriting in February 2024. As director, Khalique’s new responsibilities will include both the day-to-day operation and management of the underwriting team, strategic input and process enhancement, and the organisation of wider training. As part of the wider management team, he will be focused on the business’ aim for 2026 to exceed £1bn in total lending.
Landbay has appointed Scott Leach as its new regional account manger for the Midlands. In his new role, he will work closely with brokers across the region, providing guidance on the lender’s buy-to-let proposition and supporting advisers to help place cases. Leach brings over 10 years of specialist lending and business development experience to the role, joining from Kensington Mortgages. He has previously held roles at Clever Lending, where he developed strong relationships with brokers.
Simon Taylor has been appointed as managing director – investment product solutions and platform at Mattioli Woods. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in leadership roles, building, scaling and governing complex investment propositions and platforms within regulated environments. Taylor joins from Succession Advisory Services, where he was managing director, having previously served as platform and investment director. In his new role at the wealth management firm and employee benefits firm, Taylor will lead the continued development of the firm’s investment product capabilities and platform strategy.
