Canada Life launches mental wellbeing app

Canada Life has launched a new mental wellbeing app, myStrength, to benefit employees of companies who have a workplace protection policy with the group.

This equates to approximately 2.8 million people, which is also around 5% of the UK’s entire workforce. Immediate family members of these employees can also access and use the app for free.

Canada Life said it has identified a market need for a strong offering in the mental wellbeing space. All elements of the app are free while the service is accessible 24/7, has a simple registration process, and is incredibly easy to navigate thereafter. The app is powered by Teladoc Health UK and has been designed to support individuals, based on their specific needs.

Users will be able to communicate directly with a qualified wellbeing guide on a one-to-one basis, who are on hand to provide personalised practical tips and advice. Canada Life also said that employees can learn from hundreds of evidence-based activities at their own pace, from guided meditation to improving sleep, helping them to make simple everyday changes to improve their mental wellbeing and emotional resilience.

“With a growing demand for mental health support in the UK, it’s important that employers have the tools in place to support employees – not just when medical intervention is needed, but throughout employees’ careers to help them maintain their mental wellbeing,” said Canada Life protection sales director, Dan Crook.

“That’s why we’re excited to introduce myStrength, extending the service to all employees, whether covered by the policy or not, as well as their immediate family members. This means almost three million people and their families will benefit from personalised mental wellbeing support through the app.”
