News in brief - 11 November 2024

MPowered Mortgages has cut its SVR by 0.75% from 7.49% to 6.74%. The lender’s SVR tracks the Bank of England base rate. Alongside the cut to the base rate last week, currently at 4.75%, MPowered has also lowered the tracker margin by a further 0.50%. This means that its SVR now tracks BBR at +1.99%.

Dudley Building Society has launched a range of two-year discount residential mortgage products, designed for residential customers. The products include a rate reduction of 0.61% on 75% and 90% LTV tiers and includes the reintroduction of a 60% LTV tier. Under the new products, rates now start from 5.18% (two-year discount at 3.56%) at 60% LTV, 5.38% (3.36% two-year discount) at 75% LTV and 5.58% (3.16% two-year discount) at 90% LTV.

Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS) has announced the hiring of 27 trainees via its AssocRICS trainee programme. The academy has guided over 600 trainees to become fully qualified residential surveyors and is led by head of trainee development at CSS, Sam Holton and head of professional development, Sarah Chalmers-Stevens. The cohort of property professionals join the property risk management, valuations and UK home surveys provider with four or more years of property related experience including estate agency and domestic energy assessment, plus a number of graduates with RICS accredited degrees.
