News in brief - 26 February 2026

Acre has unveiled a new AI-powered compliance and workflow functionality designed to help brokers stay aligned with mortgage regulation as they navigate clients through the advice journey, while delivering automation to improve day-to-day operational efficiencies. The new AI-driven meeting assistant uses AI technology to capture and transcribe broker-client discussions via live recording in the platform. It analyses the transcript to identify any case vulnerabilities and broker next steps. Acre’s document checker automatically checks and classifies multiple documents, reducing the need for manual review, while also identifying any potential errors at source.

Afin Bank has cut interest rates on its high-net-worth mortgage by up to 1.66% across its entire range. The high-net-worth mortgage was created for "asset rich, income light" borrowers that do not meet standard income-based criteria. Instead, affordability is based on a customer’s net assets, including liquid assets such as pensions and investments, and illiquid assets such as property portfolios. The specialist lender will also consider a mix of both liquid and illiquid assets, along with any income, to provide flexible and pragmatic lending to customers with complex financial circumstances. Two-year fixes now start from 5.34%, while five-year fixes are available from 5.49%, both at 65% LTV.

Market Harborough Building Society has been award B Corp certification. The firm said the milestone reinforces its approach to specialist lending and ethical finance leadership, and its commitment to acting in the best interests of brokers, borrowers and the communities it serves. The accreditation now places the society among a global community of organisations that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountancy. While B Corp certification is a standout achievement, The Market Harborough said the recognition reflects long-held values rather than a change in direction. Furthermore, the accreditation gives brokers additional reassurance at a time when trust, stability and clarity “matter more than ever”.
