Vida has launched its new later life lending proposition, Next Chapter Lending, which is designed to help brokers support a wider range of borrowers, from later first-time buyers and mid-life movers to customers remortaging in retirement.
The specialist lender has refreshed its lending into retirement criteria to provide greater clarity, consistency and transparency for brokers placing cases where mortgage terms extend beyond a customer’s working life.
Under the updated criteria, Vida now defines lending into retirement as any mortgage where the term extends beyond a customer’s expected retirement age or beyond their 76th birthday, whichever comes first. The changes are intended to reduce uncertainty and provide clearer guidance when assessing affordability for customers approaching or entering retirement.
Twenty7tec is giving all users of RESEARCH free access to ADAPT, its market surveillance tool, for two months as advisers continue to navigate an increasingly fast-moving mortgage market.
The initiative has been launched in response to the sustained pace of lender activity, with adviss continuing to face product amendments and criteria amendments throughout the year.
Since the beginning of 2026, lenders have made 2,503 update requests, resulting in more han 450,000 individual product amendments across the market. The sign-up for the two-month trail is available until 31 July.
Pallas Capital has completed an £8.2m development facility to fund the change of use of a vacant education building in Leicester into a 98-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme.
The 27-month facility, structured at 70% LTGDV, funds the conversion through to completion of the build, with the borrower intending to refinance onto a term facility once the scheme is fully let and generating income.
The transaction was led by Pallas Capital’s senior originator, Mark Witherington, and undwriter Ryan Houssart.
