News in brief - 30 October 2026

Suffolk Building Society has launched a new range of 85% LTV buy-to-let (BTL) mortgages, supporting both UK and expat landlords.

The society’s offering will initially comprise six products; three standard BTL and three expat BTL mortgages. Both ranges will include two-year fixed and discounted rate options, alongside a five-year fixed rate product.

Landlords must demonstrate sufficient rental income to meet the society’s interest coverage ratio requirements, at 125% for nil and basic rate taxpayers and 145% for higher and additional-rate taxpayers.

Cumberland Building Society has announced a new partnership with the Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC), as it expands its support for business owners across the holiday let sector.

The mutual will offer its specialist finance expertise to PASC UK members and inform the trade body’s lobbying work on the finance issues affecting business owners in the short-term and holiday let lending sector.

PASC UK serves its membership of more than 2,500 property owners and agencies with data-led responses to prospective policy interventions and practical support, guidance and advice.

TAB has launched a monthly market intelligence briefing for its sales and underwriting teams.

The TAB Market Intelligence Briefing tracks official data and market surveys, including the Bank of England’s Credit Condition Survey, RICS, Lloyds and the construction PMI, as well as its own Mixed-Use Mortgage Monitor.

The first edition, written by CRO Jack Bonner and circulated across the commercial mortgage lender, says the credit squeeze should drive demand for delayed refinances, discounted acquisitions and property-backed business funding.
