News in brief - 21 August 2024

Hanley Economic Building Society has launched a new fee-free two-year 95% LTV fixed rate and a new fee-free two-year 90% LTV variable discount mortgage. The 95% LTV fee-free product comes with a rate of 5.75%, while the two-year variable discount mortgage is available at 5.30%, representing a 3.19% discount from its standard variable rate of 8.49%. In a bid to reduce upfront fees, both these products come with a free valuation alongside no application or arrangement fees. The society will also offer £250 cashback, which will be paid on the completion of the mortgage. The products are available for properties throughout England, Wales and Scotland (Scottish Islands by referral) for purchase or remortgage purposes.

MPowered Mortgages has reduced its fixed rate products for the third consecutive week, this time by up to 0.17%. The reductions across its product range reflect the lender’s focus on providing value through its 5% LTV band pricing structure, enabling customers to choose the LTV and rate that most closely associates with their loan size. The lender’s three-year remortgage products have been cut by up to 10-15 bps, with the 70% and 75% LTV zero fee remortgage options both dropping by 0.17%. Three-year 60% LTV remortgage £999 fee products now start from 4.25%, while the zero fee option starts from 4.44%. Rates have also been cut across the five-year space with a 65% LTV remortgage zero fee product starting from 4.35%.

Accord Mortgages has reduced rates on its buy-to-let product range again this week, by up to 0.20% across all LTVs up to 75%. The new range, which is available from tomorrow, includes a two-year fix at 4.59% for remortgage purposes up to 60% LTV, which comes with a £1,995 fee. A three-year remortgage product is also available from 4.74% up to 75% LTV with a £995 fee. Both products come with a free standard valuation and free remortgage legal service. The lender’s five-year purchase product starts at 4.64% at 75% LTV, which comes with a £995 fee and £250 cashback. The five-year remortgage product starts at 60% LTV, with a £3,495 fee and free remortgage legal services. Both products comes with a free standard valuation.
