News in brief - 4 March 2024

HLPartnership (HLP) has appointed Adam Smith as its new operations director. He joins HLP from international insurance, risk management and consulting services company, Gallagher, where he was operations director within UK retail. He also spent 10 years at Northern Rock, as well as two years at Legal & General as head of intermediary accounts. Prior to this, he spent over seven years at Police Mutual. In this role, he led the firm’s whole of market mortgage and protection advice service before becoming head of group operations.

Victoria Heath has been appointed as the new chief marketing officer at SunLife. She joins the financial services firm from Vanquis Bank, bringing over 20 years of strategic marketing experience to the role, including developing innovative customer propositions, brand strategy, digital optimisation and driving commercial growth with dynamic banking and insurance businesses. She also brings financial services experience, having worked as head of marketing at Esure and Virgin Money, as well as marketing roles at RBS and Tesco Bank.

Quilter has appointed Kirsty Anderson as a retirement and tax specialist, as the firm looks to strengthen its specialist technical team. The role is based in Scotland and she will be working with advisers in the north of the UK. Anderson joins from M&G Wealth, where she was a pensions specialist for nine years. She will be part of a seven-strong on-the-road team, supporting advisers with a focus on technical tax and pensions issues. The team conducts, workshops, events and seminars, as well as one-to-one sessions with advisers to help enhance understanding of the tax and retirement landscape.
