News in brief - 16 June 2025

StreamBank has launched its new StreamEdge bringing product, which combines a £1,000 legal fee contribution, title insurance and rates starting from 0.66% per month. The product is available on both a non-regulated and regulated basis across residential, semi-commercial and commercial properties at up to 65% LTV. StreamEdge is available on loans between £400,000 and £1m. However, drawdowns, adverse credit and re-bridges are not accepted, and only light internal works are allowed.

Newcastle Building Society will reduce its mortgage standard variable rate (SVR) by 0.25% to 6.50%. The change, which will come into effect from 1 July, affect residential, self-build and BTL customers with products linked to the lender’s SVR, on properties across the UK. The society said that the reduction reflects a change in market conditions and lending costs.

United Trust Bank (UTB) has appointed Hayley Evans and Harvey Wood as senior bridging underwriter and bridging underwriter respectively. The pair will work permanently from the bank’s new Manchester offices, as it looks to develop its bridging lending operations and broker support in the North of England. Evans brings over 10 years’ experience in the property finance, banking and intermediary sectors, having worked at The Co-Operative Bank, Embrace Financial Services, TSB Bank and most recently, Together. Wood joins UTB from SoMo, having held roles at Together and SDKA. His experience covers a range of sectors including residential, commercial and mixed-use properties.
