Nationwide has appointed Damian Thompson as its new director of mortgage intermediaries and partnerships, effective from 1 October. He joins the building society from The Mortgage Works, where he served as commercial director of landlord since the start of 2023. As part of his new role, Thompson will move to a new role with responsibility for leading and driving forward Nationwide’s intermediary relationships. He will also be responsible for the group’s other third-party partnerships across mortgages, insurance, protection and investments.

United Trust Bank Mortgages has reduced rates across its selection of second charge products by up to 84 bps. As a result, the lender’s five-year prime-plus fix is available from 5.59%, while its no early repayment charges (ERCs) option start from 6.35%. On its prime plans, five-year fixes start from 5.84% and 6.50% with no ERCs, while its near-prime products are available from 6.99% and 7.35% with no ERCs. The update comes after the specialist lender removed product fees from its second charge loans below £40,000 and increased its maximum second charge loan size to £1m up to 80% LTV.

StreamBank has appointed two senior underwriters to support growing demand from brokers and enhance its bridging and development finance proposition. Josh Thompson joined the firm at the start of the month from CrowdProperty, where he held roles including senior lending manager and senior surveyor. He also held positions at Thomas Mae Land & Planning and Innova Property. He will play a role in assessing new development and refurbishment deals, with a focus on build cost analysis and viability. Emma Stone has also joined the firm as senior underwriter from Glenhawk, where she led regulated and unregulated underwriting. She has 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry, including senior roles at Admiral Money, Foundation Home Loans and Optimum Credit. She will focus on complex transactions and will work closely with brokers to shape deals that balance commercial opportunity with compliance.
