News in brief - 31 March 2025

HLPartnership (HLP) has expanded its general insurance (GI) panel in response to adviser feedback. The number of providers on HLP’s panel has increased from two to five, with The Source, Uinsure and 3XD joining LV=and Paymentshield. The expansion is set to provide HLP advisers with a broader range of GI solutions to provide greater flexibility to clients.

Nucleus Financial Platforms has appointed Jenny Woods and Jennifer O’Brien as group financial controller and commercial finance director, respectively. Both roles are newly created and are designed to strengthen the finance team as the firm looks to invest in leadership talent. Woods joins from aberdeen group plc, where for over 20 years, she held various finance roles including interim chief financial officer of America and head of group financial reporting. O’Brien most recently served as commercial finance director at ClearBank, and in her two decades of financial services experience, she has held senior roles at Deloitte, Aegon, the NatWest Group and M&G.

Gary Thompson has been appointed as sales director at Asset Advantage. As part of the role, he will lead the strategic direction of the firm and execution of sales and marketing initiatives. Thompson brings over 30 years of asset finance sales experience, having served in roles at Siemens Financial Services, Key Equipment Finance and Bank of Scotland. In his time at Siemens Financial Services, he developed a wholesale offering for manufacturers and funders, purchasing over £300m in leases in four years.
