Principality appoints new CEO

Principality Building Society has announced the appointment of Julie-Ann Haines as its new chief executive officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Haines, who joined the society in 2007 and is currently chief customer officer, has more than 20 years’ experience in retail and financial services.

Interim CEO, Mike Jones, will continue in his role until Haines is officially approved by the financial regulators, which Principality suggested could take up to three months.

“It is a great honour and privilege to be appointed as CEO of Principality which has a fantastic heritage of 160 years as a member-owned organisation,” Haines commented.

“As leader of our purpose-led organisation, my priority will be to build on our solid foundations and continue to invest in the business especially in these challenging times. It is vital we have a building society that is relevant for current and future members, customers and commercial partners.

“I have a clear vision of where I want the society to be, driving us forward to deliver the ongoing changes we need to stay relevant and successful.”

Principality chairman, Laurie Adams, added: “I am delighted to announce Julie-Ann as our new CEO subject to regulatory approval. Her commitment to our mutual values for more than a decade, in which she has shown strong leadership, financial and commercial acumen in helping to double our assets to more than £10bn, will help ensure she builds on the society’s success.

“During her time at Principality, she has played an important role in ensuring our members have received outstanding customer experience, and especially during these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
