News in brief - 18 August 2025

Emily Carr has been appointed as a mortgage adviser at Afin Bank. As part of the role, she will head up the new specialist lender’s inhouse team of advisers. The team will primarily advise applicants that have been introduced to Afin via its community ambassador programme. Carr has a long career in mortgage advice, having worked at NatWest, Halifax and HSBC, as well as more specialist providers, such as Police Mutual.

Tembo has launched a new lifetime ISA (LISA) bonus, which will allow its customers who use its free mortgage service to receive a 1% bonus of the value of their LISA towards their home purchase. Tembo savings customers benefit from access to free-free mortgage advice from its mortgage brokerage, saving them up to £749 on the standard fee. LISA holders with deposits with other providers are able to sign up to the Tembo Savings and Homebuyer app and set up a transfer from their existing provider.

Parmenion has appointed Chris Larkin as chief transformation officer on its executive team. He is the founder and managing director of performance consultancy firm, Bigrock People Performance Solutions, which Parmenion acquired last year. As part of his new role at the adviser platform, Larkin will play a role in driving its transformation and scaling initiatives across the group. He brings significant experience in organisational effectiveness, leadership development and strategic execution to the role.
