News in brief - 6 August 2025

Atom bank has introduced a discount on its commercial mortgages for properties with higher energy efficiency ratings. The ‘Better Buildings’ discount is available to properties with an EPC rating of at least B, or BREEAM rating of at least very good. Properties with an EPC rating of A+/A or a BREEAM rating of outstanding or excellent will also be eligible for a 0.25% discount. Only one discount can apply to an application, and for applications covering multiple properties, any discount will be assessed on a portfolio-wide basis.

Andy Peters has been appointed as a protection adviser at Luminosity, following the firm’s launch under Susie Beard-Moore in May, as part of the PRIMIS Mortgage Network. He joins the business with over 40 years in the life insurance industry. Peters was a founding director of both Bright Grey and Guardian Financial Services and has worked at Royal London and Cirencester Friendly Society.

Black & White Bridging has appointed Rick Davey as relationship manager to its growing sales and relationships team. He joins the firm with 24 years’ experience in the financial services industry and expertise in the bridging market. Davey has most recently served as a regional account manager at West One Loans, specialising in bridging products for residential and semi-commercial. He has also held business development and account management roles at Foundation Home Loans, Seneca Bridging and The Bridging Group.
