Vida Homeloans announces leadership change

Belmont Green has announced that Louisa Sedgwick has been appointed as the new managing director mortgages for its mortgage brand, Vida Homeloans.

Sedgwick, who had been director of sales at Vida since its launch in 2016, recently became the first ever female chair of the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association.

She commented: “In just three years, Vida has successfully completed £1.8bn of mortgage lending, and it is an amazing time to take on the managing director mortgages role as we continue to grow the business.”

Belmont Green announced she will succeed Guy Batchelor, who is stepping down from his position at the end of January. Batchelor was a founder of Belmont Green in October 2015 and has since held the title of managing director mortgages at Vida.

Batchelor exclusively told MoneyAge: “It has been an enormous privilege to have been part of the Vida journey and its success, but now is the right time to hand over the reins to Louisa to take the business to the next stage of its development.

“I am immensely proud to have co-founded and worked in such an outstanding and innovative growth business with some great colleagues.”

Belmont Green also announced the appointment of the former director of financial services at Virgin Money, Anth Mooney, as the firm’s new CEO.

Mooney, whose other roles include retail banking director at Northern Rock, managing director of Thomas Cook Money, and most recently CEO of Caversham Finance, will take up his position in late January, subject to regulatory approval.

He will succeed current CEO, David Tweedy, who is set to leave the business after completing the handover of the role.

Mooney commented: “I’m excited by the opportunity to work with the senior team to deliver the next stage of Belmont Green’s journey and the further development of Vida’s intermediary-focused lending proposition.

“David has given us a great platform to build from, and I am delighted to be taking the reins for the next stage of its development.”

Commenting on the firm’s leadership changes, Belmont Green chairman, Steve Haggerty, added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank David and Guy for leading us through the first chapter of Belmont Green’s existence and for building Vida, a mortgage lender that is known and respected throughout the industry.

“I also know that Anth’s experience and expertise are the right combination to take us on to the next stage of our development and that Louisa’s promotion will mean continuity and consistency for Vida’s important intermediary partners.”
