News in brief - 17 June 2024

Landbay has reduced rates across the majority of its two- and five-year fixed rate products by as much as 0.10%. The reduction by the buy-to-let (BTL) lender covers the two-year fixed range, except for large HMOs/MUFBs and tracker products. Rates now start from 4.24% at 75% LTV with a 6% fee. The five-year range sees the same reduction, with rates starting at 4.74% at 75% LTV with a 7% fee, although zero fee products are also available. The only exceptions in the five-year range are large HMOs/MUFBs, as well as two standard five-year fixed options, one with a £1,299 fee and another with a 2%, which are reduced by 0.5%.

Dudley Building Society has lowered rates across its mortgage retention range by up to 0.70%. The mutual has reduced rates on selected fixed and discounted products across its residential, BTL, holiday let and expat range. Reductions of up to 0.60% have been made to its two-year fixed residential retention mortgage products and up to 0.70% for interest-only. Two-year discount and fixed rates now start at 5.49% for both capital and interest-only options up to 60% LTV. For BTL and holiday lets, retention rates have been cut by up to 0.55% and now start at 5.95% and 5.89% at two-year fixed and discount rate respectively, both up to 60% LTV. Two-year fixed expat residential and BTL retention rates have been reduced by 0.45% and now start at 6.15% up to 70% LTV.

The Right Mortgage & Protection Network has appointed Phil Davies as a new member to its protection development team. As part of the role, he will work with appointed representative (AR) firms to boost protection penetration in the business, with the aim of improving protection volumes and setting up referral partners to ensure clients get the protection advice they need. Davies is also the company director of AR firm, Mortgage Sure Ltd, which was established in 2015, and is already within the Right Mortgage & Protection Network. Prior to this, he was a financial adviser at Lloyds Bank, starting in 2004 in the pension and investment space before switching to protection.
